As Managing Editor, Bill Anderson mostly works on bringing good journalism to the magazine, especially with story ideas and strong writing and reporting. He plans, assigns and edits stories, sometimes working more than a year ahead of print time for seasonally themed pieces.
Born in Canada, Bill has a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto, Ontario. He has worked for a range of media including a wire service, a major metro, midsize daily newspapers and a weekly magazine. Prior to Vermont Life, where he has been since 2007, he worked for six years as the editor of the Weekend section at the Burlington Free Press.
Over the years, he has specialized in arts and entertainment coverage and criticism, but has also dealt with hard news, business, sports and other aspects of daily news.
“As a place to live,” Bill says, “Vermont offers everything I could hope for, and it is a privilege to convey its unique culture and appeal through the pages of Vermont Life.”
In wintertime, he is a part-time ski instructor at Smugglers’ Notch Resort near Jeffersonville.
