Melissa Pasanen has written for Vermont Life for a decade, serving as food editor since 2009 while still covering a range of topics for the magazine. The award-winning journalist also contributes regularly to the Burlington Free Press and The Art of Eating, and writes for a range of national publications including Parade, EatingWell and Saveur. She co-authored the New York Times notable cookbook, “Cooking with Shelburne Farms: Food and Stories from Vermont” (Viking, 2007). Melissa has lived all over the world, but has spent more years in Vermont than anywhere else. She and her husband have raised their two sons in South Burlington over the last 16 years. On any given day in Vermont, you might find her ferrying her sporty kids all over the region, making the most of local ingredients in her kitchen, dancing at the FlynnArts studio, following her nose to new eating destinations and farms, or enjoying a quiet hike or snowshoe through the woods.
